Looking for a business bank account? After 3 years in business, I finally got a bank account because I finally found one worth loving (and YES, they’re not owned or controlled by some greedy, large banking institution).
Novo is not a bank, but actually, a fintech company, so they offer a ton of other online services that are completely FREE (I use their Invoicing and Reserves system, and will soon use Payroll too).

Creative Assistant for Hire!
It’s been a while since we’ve spoken - things in business (and life) have really ramped up this month and it made me realize that I need to hire help.
During my first year in business, I hired a few contractors (more on that later in the newsletter), but these past few years I’ve mostly focused on hiring coaches.
After two years of really intensive mental and even spiritual rewiring, I’m ready to relinquish a little control and tap someone for help.
But I’m scared.
I’m scared of the responsibility of paying for someone’s livelihood.
I’m scared I’ll commit to someone and it won’t work out (whether they’re a bad fit or business will suddenly dry up).
But mostly I’m scared of having someone else take care of my baby.
The reality is, I can’t expect anyone to treat my business baby the same as I would.
This is a good thing because the right person will see what’s working and what’s not, where we can improve, and what amazing tools, products, and services are ripe and ready to be shared with the world.
BUT… no employee, regardless of how much you pay them, could ever be expected to understand, care, or create with the same force and willpower as I would because I have legit skin in the game.
So I’m being patient with my fear around this - because it IS a big deal.
But I also know that everything is scary, so it just comes down to the question: do I trust myself enough to figure it out?
If things stayed the same, could I truthfully say I’d grow? Or will I be forced to contract (again) because I don’t have the bandwidth?
If I delayed hiring help, what possibilities would I be forfeiting? What opportunities am I naturally pushing away?
And lastly, would the future version of myself who has all their needs met truly do everything on my own? Or, much like a Queen, would she have counsel?
As I get more and more comfortable in my personal life with asking for help from friends, family, and my boyfriend, I have to extend the same courtesy to my business.
So here we go.

No Budget? AI for Hire!
The first years of business for me were rocky AF, and every little bit of money I made went right back into my business or as an investment in myself so I could grow and expand.
So if you’re strapped for cash but know you need help, here are some AI-based tools and services that have made my life (and many of my colleagues’ lives) better:
Otter.ai - Records all my meetings, transcribes them live, and makes it super easy to find action items that were discussed. The Otter Chat feature is also really helpful!

Descript - I’ve talked about this a zillion times but it TRULY has saved me hours of time and has allowed me to finally pursue YouTube because of how easy it is to edit audio and video for my show.
Motion - This is a new AI app I found that I’m experimenting with. I’m hoping it will help me layer all my tasks and deadlines together and tell me when to do what.
️ When To Hire Help
Personally, I’ve found that there isn’t a magic formula when it comes to hiring - there will never be the perfect time or scenario.
My first year in business I had Tony, my amazing audio editor who was with me for one full year.
I found him through Upwork.
PS! Upwork is a great platform to hire from if you need to pay with credit instead of cash!
I’ve also hired virtual assistants over the years.
One was used for a very specific project and she was WONDERFUL, but the other assistant I had, was a complete nightmare.
The same can be said about coaches I’ve hired.
Some started good and then grew to be an even greater resource to me. Others were good and then started to tank (or were terrible fits from the beginning).
This is unfortunately the game you need to play (it’s very similar to dating).
So when is the BEST time to hire?
The logical response is ‘when you have enough money in the bank’ or ‘you’ve seen enough revenue to validate your idea or product’ - but I don’t necessarily agree with that.
The three biggest indicators when I need to reach for help:
1️⃣ I have to turn away business because I can’t handle the workload
2️⃣ I’ve hit a plateau creatively or monetarily for 3+ months
3️⃣ I’m neglecting the things that make this all worthwhile
The hard thing with hiring is that you’ll never feel ready enough (or have enough money stacked that you feel you’d be 100% good) because life constantly changes.
But the one thing that I DO know is that time is finite, and with the right people in my world, the money and energy will always come back.
To this day, I owe much of my success with the podcast to having the right person who made my life.
Tony was worth every damn penny.
