Corporate Quitter #9
Hitting My First $10k Month š¤
Hey yāall,
Itās Gabby from Corporate Quitter š
Happy Freakinā New Year! How are yāall feeling?!
Are you still rubbing the crusties out of your eyes?
Or are you running full force already?
I usually reserve the last week of the year to slow down and reflect to give me the perfect springboard to ārunā at the beginning of the year, but this year was differentā¦
I got CATAPULTATED into a new reality at the end of December.
Firstly, on Christmas Eve, my dream living situation fell into my lap.
One of the Airbnb hosts I had met during my December trip offered me a two-month stay at their gorgeous home for just $1500 (check out my Instagram for pics!!)
WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK š¤Æ
It was just too perfect to pass up.
THANK YOU TO WHOEVER COSMICALLY IS LOOKING OUT FOR ME *cries*
So a week later, I packed up my sedan and did the 30-hour road trip cross-country with my boyfriend who generously flew up to NY to do it with me.
Everything was just falling into place perfectly.
While I was driving cross country, I had a moment to catch my breath and realized another major thing happened - I hit my first $10k month in December.
I had been rushing around packing up and preparing that I hadnāt realized I had hit one of my biggest business goals right as the year was closing out.
Iāve never made this much money before (even when I was in Corporate).
I say all this as a reminder that:
EVERYTHING CAN CHANGE IN AN INSTANT
The dream client.
The dream opportunity.
The dream relationship.
The dream home.
When you run the show yourself as a biz owner, it can be really f*cking scary (especially in the beginning when youāre bleeding time, money, and energy waiting for that *one thing* to be a Grand Slam).
BUT
When you run the show yourself and have no constraints on what you can do, how you do it, and when you do it, the most amazing things can happen because youāve created space for it.
Had I been working a regular 9-5 job, I wouldnāt have been able to move cross country on a momentās notice OR hit $10k/month without aggressive job hopping (spending energy), getting additional degrees and certifications (spending $$$), or waited patiently for my year-over-year puny little raise (spending time).
It might have taken me almost 3 years, but if I can do it, you can do it too.
This is just the beginning.

QUITTER INS & OUTS
Setting The Tone For 2024
If youāve been following CQ for a while, you know how serious I am when it comes to setting intentions.
So, what are your intentions for 2024?
Some people like to choose a word or a phrase (mine is Peace & Prosperity).
Some even create a whole mood board that represents the energy, archetype, and opportunities theyāre bringing and harnessing this new year (you can creep some of my āenergeticā boards HERE).
But one of the trends that I recently stumbled upon and LOVED is an In vs. Out list.
What are you no longer accepting?
And what are you creating space for?
Here are some that I brainstormed for us Quitters:
INS:
Saying yes to things that excite, but scare the sh*t out of me
Accepting help when offered
Getting carried away with my ideas
Proudly telling people Iām building a business
Letting myself be weird af
Acknowledging my knowledge, skills & abilities
Prioritizing play every day
Trusting myself more
Finishing projects
Backing my business and creative process in such a big way that people could never ignore
OUTS:
Being a āresponsible adultā
Overstimulation
Saying yes to things I want to say no to
Using an alarm clock
Working after 5pm (unless itās on something I LOVE)
Skipping or delaying meals to keep working
Judging my journey
Framing my āuntraditional pathā as reckless
Hustling for worthiness
Tolerating people, places, jobs, and experiences that bring me pain or unhealthy discomfort to ākeep the peaceā

Which one of these inspired you? What are your INS and OUTS for 2024?
BOOKS TO READ
I read almost 45 books in 2023, and truthfully, aside from one, none of them really changed my life (though not surprising because I mostly read fiction since my mental health was hanging by a thread and I needed some escapism š« ).
Hereās a list of books (affixed with their lessons) that Iāve read since the beginning of my Quitter Journey thatās helped me TREMENDOUSLY:
šØ The Artist Way - Helped me creatively recover from āadultingā and taught me how to embrace (and monetize) all forms of my creative expression
š Year of Yes - Taught me how to say YES to more experiences in life
š Rated X: How Porn Liberated Me From Hollywood - Taught me how to boldly move forward as I carve MY OWN untraditional path (and validated where Iām currently at)
š The Go-Giver - Taught me how to understand and communicate my value better (thus making more money, creating better relationships, etc)
š° The Having - Taught me how to practice acknowledging what I have (time, money, or energy), practice gratitude for it, and as a result, create more of it
š§āāļø The Surrender Experiment - Taught me how to let go of my personal preferences and simply let life call the shots (to create flow)
Have any book recommendations to share? What books are you looking forward to reading next year?
CHATGPT
As you ease into this New Year, itās important to take into account your goals for 2024 AND reflect (if you havenāt already) on what did or didnāt you accomplish in 2023 and WHY.
After, you can use ChatGPT to help you lay the groundwork for 2024 goals with actionable steps.
Below is a money-related example.
Feel free to tweak the prompt below based on your money, time, and energetic restrictions.
Prompt of the Week:

PODCAST
HELP! Iām burnt out and donāt know what to do about it š«
Weāve got you!
In this episode, Laura Von Wahlde, a certified Career & Burn Out Coach, and I discuss the negative consequences of overworking and societal expectations that often glorify burnout, placing it on a pedestal as something that shows dedication and success.
Laura provides insights on recognizing and distinguishing between stress and burnout.
She also suggests ways to cope with both, emphasizing the importance of emotional regulation, setting boundaries, learning to slow down, and creating an intentional healing time.
We also discuss when to quit a job, the right reasons to do so, and strategies to avoid repeating patterns that lead to stress and burnout.
Are you already feeling the burn this year? What are you putting in place to heal your burnout?
$10K MONTHS
I did it. I hit the $10k month threshold after 3 years of experimentingā¦ and this is how it happened:
I hired my business strategist, Mike, in October knowing that I needed someone to kick my ass because I was wallowing in my sh*t for far too long.
I owe much of the momentum Iāve built over these past few months to him (Mike, youāre the shiiiiit).
When we were celebrating in December, he had asked me:
āWhat was the thing that *actually* moved the needle?ā
And hereās what I told him:
In hindsight, 3 years is NOT a long time to hit $10k/mo.
In fact, most people (whether in Corporate or business), never achieve something like that.
Iām beyond grateful I stuck it out to see the rewards finally start returning.
But after 3 years filled with pivoting a gazillion times, building my savings only to bleed it dry over and over again while trying out the next experiment, and all the while doing almost everything on my own, I was seriously at a breaking point.
WHEN THE F*CK WAS IT GOING TO HAPPEN.
Turns out it could have happened a really long time ago had I just stopped avoiding my gifts and got over my damn self.
I was so fixated on my offers, services, and products being perfect that I wasnāt actively selling ANYTHING.
People were screaming for my help, but I was too afraid of failing them that I just defaulted to failing myself instead (Iād rather hold the pain than inflict it on others).
I was too busy hiding.
I was SO hyper-aware of what I LACKED in terms of skills, abilities, and knowledge (and had a few looming judgemental thoughts from ex-friends, colleagues, and boyfriends) that I couldnāt acknowledge what I HAD.
And if I couldnāt see what value I could bring into the world, the impact Iāve already had on millions (literally), you bet your ass I was stuck af.
Iām SO beyond grateful that over the past 3 years, everything was inbound - brand deals, Quitter clients, freelance & consulting clients, etc.
I didnāt chase anyone or sell anything directly until this past month (more on being a money magnet in a future podcast episode with Whitney Magic) and yet I still was bringing in recurring revenue.
Now that I see the impact on my community when I help them (and as a result in my bank account, which then goes right back into creating more dope sh*t for all of yāall), Iām extremely excited about my future and the future of CQ.
I cracked the code.
But jokes on me, because the solution was right in front of me the whole time.
Where are you standing in your own way? In what ways are you going to practice āgetting over yourselfā and just do the damn thing?
Thanks for reading!
