Corporate Quitter #4

How Would You Spend $1.5 Million?

Hey y’all,

It’s Gabby from Corporate Quitter 👋

This email is going to be a bit different than usual because Thanksgiving always feels a bit weird for me.

Thanksgiving in particular, and also the general end-of-year reflections that naturally happen around the holidays, always made me feel like a bad person.

On the one hand, I was so incredibly grateful for the people in my life and the experiences I’ve had thus far…

And on the other, there was a lot of disappointment and a feeling of exhaustion of never getting off the hamster wheel.

At least that’s what it felt like for the past decade of my adult life (especially when I was in Corporate).

This is the first year IN A WHILE that I’m actually really happy and content with life even though things are far from perfect.

This is coming from someone who just last year only made rent by $100 and was beyond inconsolable.

I’ve been there, and I totally get it.

In a quest to find a happy life, I forgot to realize that what makes a happy life is actually a string of happy moments.

I was just so damn focused on being busy.

All this to say - this is your permission slip to actually enjoy the downtime.

Attempting to channel being the most unbothered bitch

There’s absolutely no reason to rush.

You don’t need to force yourself to work or get in extra hours learning the next cutting-edge thing.

You don’t need to stick to your diet plan.

And you most definitely don’t need to make yourself feel worse for not being the most happy-go-lucky person this season if you’re feeling extra gray.

Instead, I want you to play.

Can you do a puzzle?

Or go on a walk and collect 3 really pretty rocks?

How about baking a batch of chocolate chip cookies? (my favorite recipe)

Create a piece of shitty art for the sake of it?

…Or what about brainstorming what YOU would do if you made $1.5 million dollars next year?

This is what my coach and business strategist tasked me with this week.

I’m not saying I’ll make that much next year, but it’s not impossible.

It would just be really hard.

I invite you to try this exercise and have fun with it (and if you feel called, check out our latest podcast episode: Reprogram Your Self-Talk For The Sake Of Success).

Be really super specific in the way you would spend that money (you can see my Excel sheet HERE - please make a copy if you’re going to try for yourself 😊)

Firstly, this exercise is great in realizing that we ambitious people actually don’t need a million dollars to be happy (the pressure here in America is f*cking dumb).

And it’s also really fun because you get to let your mind wander.

I also got really geeked about ALL the really fun things I can build for this community and how I could support the people and causes I care about.

Anyway, I hope y’all have a great Thanksgiving and extended weekend!

Please be kind to yourself 💜
