#CRINGE - Why We All Feel F*cking Insane Right Now

I feel fucking insane right now - and you probably do too.

You’re not alone. And no, you’re NOT insane.

My newsletters don’t typically look like this, but I think it’s important to acknowledge what we’re all feeling right now - that something has shifted.

Things HAVE been shifting since the Pandemic, and many of us still haven’t fully grieved from it.

Whether it be the job you lost, the family member who passed away, the comfort of a good economy, or the key and typical moments you *should* have experienced in your life that were disrupted and you can’t get back (like going away to college or meeting the love of your life and getting married before 30).

But I think it’s even more than that.

I think we haven’t grieved the fact that The American Dream and the hope of actually living a good life or fulfilling one’s dreams is getting farther and farther away from us.

Do I think that there’s opportunity aplenty? Yes, I see it every day.

Do I also think we live in a fucked up reality where the scales are severely tilted NOT in our favor? Yes.

The reality is:

You’re not broke - you’re just American and a regular job won’t suffice.

You’re not sick - you’re just American and our healthcare system isn’t rooted in healing.

You’re not lazy - you’re just American and your hard work doesn’t pay off most of the time.

You’re not stupid - you’re just American and the education system that indoctrinated you made you exactly who they wanted you to be.

Those of you subscribed to this newsletter are probably aware of the above and are trying desperately to skirt around it (because same).

And you’re probably here because you’re trying to grab life by the balls to survive (because same).

This is why millions are running towards the Creator- and Gig Economy because the typical system under a 9-5 and “get rich slowly” model of even using investing is not working anymore.

Don’t get me wrong, the Creator economy has changed my life and many others, but it’s insane the lengths all of us have to go to survive.

So no shit you, we, us feel f*cking insane.

My friend Vanessa @ Chick Lit Podcast recently shared the below short film that highlights the rise of #cringe behavior and I highly recommend you watch it (15 mins).

Even though it’s a silly production, it also has a serious undertone that brings to light how fake the very things that are being fed to us are.

I really hope this newsletter doesn’t bring you down further into the dumps but rather that it does remind you that you are not alone, you’re not insane, and the chaos you’re feeling is valid.

The world we thought we knew is collapsing - these are just the growing pains we need to experience in order to create something new.

Sometimes all we need is to step away from the toxic positivity online and remember that even those with a glamorous life or perfect grid are also struggling too.
