Corporate Quitter #11

This Clothing Line Made $260k in 24 Hours?! 🤯

Hey y’all,

It’s Gabby from Corporate Quitter 👋

Happy Full Moon! 🦁

This was one of those weeks where my body was just screaming for rest for absolutely no damn reason 🤠

MANY of you vocalized the same thing - this week was just not it.

It wasn’t a bad week, but it was a week meant for slowing down which is technically the easiest, but logically the f*cking worst.

It’s extremely hard for me to honor slowing down because there’s SO MUCH I WANT TO DO.

BUT, one thing I’m starting to recognize as a pattern in this is that when I’m trying to go against my intuition (in this case, recognizing I needed to slow down and rest), overthinking consumes me.

Overthinking only shows up when I’m trying to go against my intuition, and it usually comes in the form of anger, frustration, or throw-myself-on-the-ground-dramatic tears.

And then I let myself rest, the action that was being asked of me at that moment, and the overthinking vanished (or at least subsided for right now).

Recognizing and honoring gut feelings is hard, but every day it gets a bit easier.

Are you honoring what your mind/body/spirit needs?

🔥 Opportunity: Drop-Based, Online Clothing Shop

🔎 Case Study: Sophie Nistico, $2.3 Million in Sales

I’ve watched A LOT of Shark Tank since I’ve always had the entrepreneurial bug, but the story of SeeTheWayISee is one for the books.

Sophie took the simple concept of quality loungewear, and by embracing mental health awareness and size inclusivity, broke the internet with her multi-6-figure clothing drops (as you can see from the video below).

Not only is her clothing cute and messaging on-trend, but her unique drop method created a sense of urgency and demand that sold her out every. single. time.

Genius.

Sophie’s story is a great reminder that sometimes the best ideas are the most simple. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel, you just have to create a wheel that’s absolutely *perfect* for a select few.

And when we talk about a select few, we’re talking just under 4,500 people (her crewnecks sell for $60, so if she made $260k, it would mean ~4,333 people had to buy them).

Yes, having 4,333 people is still A LOT when you consider 24 hours… but what if you made that spread out over an entire year? You can do it.

Sophie did everything through her storefront, but as of July of 2023, SeeTheWayISee finally made it to TikTok Shop (more on how to get on TikTok Shop later in the newsletter)

Building A Fashion Boutique

I’ve always loved fashion so I’ve been SO CURIOUS about the boutique world for quite a while. It always seemed inaccessible to me… but turns out, it’s not as impossible to start as I had thought.

On this week’s episode, Alora, the owner of Alora Eden, and I discuss her journey from working in the corporate world to starting her online fashion boutique. Some things we talked about are:

  • How to start a boutique

  • What to do first and what you can save for later

  • Initial investments and financial commitments

  • Unexpected challenges in the boutique world

TikTok Shop

If you scroll TikTok like I do, you’re probably flooded with content about TikTok Shop.

Though I’m personally annoyed with the volume of shopping ads I get (it’s becoming QVC in my opinion), it’s still a great opportunity for those looking to make money or bring their brand to life.

So how do you do it? It can’t be that hard, can it?

I found this great video by Hayden Bowles who goes into great detail on HOW to start your shop or become an affiliate and make a commission. Some of the things he talks about:

  • Who can get approved for a TikTok Shop

  • What you need to get approved

  • The timeline for payouts

  • Strict guidelines & banned items or accounts
