Corporate Quitter #1

Could Meme's Make You Millions?! 👀

Hey y’all,

It’s Gabby from Corporate Quitter 👋

This is my first official newsletter - woo! A big thank you to all 1,377 of you who came here to play 🥹

I decided to start a newsletter for a few reasons:

1️⃣ I recently stumbled upon the business of newsletters through a new client. Truthfully, I thought newsletters were dead… but my perspective changed once I saw how valuable they were when done right.

2️⃣ I, like many of you, am f*cking tired of fighting with algorithms and gimmicky marketing tactics to get attention. If I pursue a newsletter, seemingly, it’s a helluva lot easier to give you all the tea.

3️⃣ I’ve always LOVED writing and am trying to do more things that feel good versus things that I feel obligated to do because “everyone else is doing them.”

Every week, I aim to bring you the latest news, trends, tips & insights on how to not only be a corporate quitter, but how to kick ass and take names as an entrepreneur by helping you:

  • Increase your visibility & reach

  • Grow your audience organically

  • Create content faster with WAY LESS effort

  • Become a better storyteller

  • Make WAY more money

  • Leverage cool new tools to make your life 10x easier

  • And actually have fun doing it?? Is that a thing in adulthood??

Reply to this email and share a little bit about yourself. What are you most looking forward to in this newsletter?

This week, we’re covering:

💼 UNCONVENTIONAL CAREERS

Could Meme’s Make You Millions?! 👀

🔥 Opportunity: Instagram Theme Page

🔎 Case Study: Kunal Shah, $30-$40k MRR

I recently stumbled upon a thread that Kunal Shah posted talking about how he’s created 2 Instagram Theme Pages that bring in anywhere from $30-$40k per month - WILD. Obviously, this didn’t happen overnight (it took him 3 years actually). But I know someone else who did something similar, in a fraction of the time.

Justin, the creator behind 90skid4lyfe, also runs an Instagram Theme Page but with a focus on nostalgia and humor (my brother Tom and I constantly DM each other millennial content from this page). Though I don’t know the numbers Justin brings in (I’m trying to get him on the podcast!), he’s shared with me that he’s had a tremendous amount of success since he first had the idea in 2020/2021.

Differences between Kunal and Justin?

1) Kunal created his pages without his face, whereas Justin made himself the face of the brand

2) Kunal is focused on business and motivation, whereas Justin is focused on nostalgic, feel-good content

3) Kunal is focused on curating content, whereas Justin is focused on creating original content with some curation sprinkled in

Reply to this email and let me know what you think about this unconventional side hustle or career. Would you try it?!

⚙️ AI SPOTLIGHT

3 years into being a quitter (crazy, I know), I’m always looking for ways to work smarter, not harder. Here are some tools I SWEAR BY, or just new tools I found that seem really cool:

🐇 hoppycopy.co - Save yourself hours of writing, brainstorming, and tweaking your content (I love this tool so much that I pay for premium)

🤖 durable.co - Make a stunning website in 60 seconds or less

🥭 passionfruit.me - Find opportunities & easily manage brand deals

⚙️ bardeen.ai - delegate tedious tasks with AI (I’m new to this product but will give y’all an overview of how I’m using it in my business once setup is complete)

🐦 postwise.ai - Craft tweets & LinkedIn posts with AI

🤖 CHATGPT

I’ve been loving ChatGPT since its release in November 2022, but with all the recent updates, I’m now FULLY geeked.

You can now have it scan pictures, documents, audio, websites, and even complex code to either edit, give instructions, or build anything completely from scratch.

One Twitter user even had it scan a confusing set of parking signs to prevent getting a ticket:

Prompt of the Week:

I had a new client inquiry come in last week and was struggling to come up with a proposal. Here’s what I put into ChatGPT to help:

️ PODCAST

Yes… we’re finally back 🫣

It’s been a while since I did anything with the show and there’s been a lot of self-inflicted shame because of that.

After a really crazy first season (100 episodes in a year), I completely burnt myself out… but I refused to recognize that I was because I was so concerned with showing up for all of you. I fought that feeling for about a year.

Now, after a healing-focused, ‘sad-gal summer,’ I’m ready to be that guiding light for y’all.

Another major reason I was excited to come back into the podcasting space is because:

1️⃣ Corporate Quitter is a winner in this year’s Signal Award 🥹

2️⃣ Corporate Quitter just hit 100,000 downloads 😭

Firstly, I want to say THANK YOU. Thank you to each and every one of you who have shown up in support of me, the show, my team, and the vision of Corporate Quitter as a whole. Without all of you, none of this would exist.

If you want to hear what we’ll be covering in the podcast, and the new direction of the platform, our Season 4 trailer is now live (9 minutes).

What do you think of the new ‘direction’ for the show? Is there anything in particular you’re looking forward to? Any suggestions?

🤳 CREATOR CORNER

I’m currently sipping a too-large vanilla oat milk latte as I write this so maybe it’s counterintuitive, but:

YOU NEED TO SLOW THE F DOWN

My first year in business (2021) was a full-on sprint and I didn’t take care of myself AT ALL. I neglected exercise completely, was wayyyyy too caffeinated, and wasn’t eating well… which led to 2022 where I was forced to basically spend recovering from said sprint the year before. Boo!

Today, now 3 years in, I can confirm that slowing down and taking small bites is actually way more sustainable and makes life actually enjoyable?? Wow, what a concept!

I feel like my twenties was a firey, anxious hot-mess of running on E (meaning empty not ecstasy lol) because I prioritized stress. If I wasn’t suffering and experiencing some sort of pain, exhaustion, or self-inflicted work drama, I didn’t feel worthy of the win that came from the work.

I saw this quote above by Cory Muscara, a creator who runs the Practicing Human newsletter, and it slapped me in the face. He perfectly described the what I’ve been trying to achieve this year that’s not actually balance, but full alignment.

Alignment is not being forced.

Alignment is not abiding by the “should’s of life” either.

Alignment is being in flow in a way that works for you with you as the priority - not your boss, client, partner, or your friend who hasn’t been acting much like a friend after all.

There is no set path to finding alignment, but here’s a recent episode of Modern Wisdom I listened to that is helping me change my perspective on work, goal pursuit, and burnout.

I’m continually growing and understanding myself a bit better and recognize that sometimes alignment and rest look like the below, and that’s okay 😊

Thanks for reading!
